Failsafe Settings in regards to Eraldo's article in May Newsletter

That was an interesting read on Eraldo's radio quitting recently! I thought I would share a similar recent experience.

Ironically, I too had a failure with my Spektrum 8 Tx about 7 weeks ago... there was no warning, everything simply stopped working all of a sudden! I first tried to re-bind, which seemed to actually work OK from the lights blinking sequence, and the messages on the Tx during binding! However, it still did not work! I tried a second, and a third model... still did not work!

So I downloaded all the model memories (8 of them) to an SD stick that the Tx allows me to do (I love that), and then went to Spektrum's site and downloaded the latest firmware from Spektrum and loaded it on the Tx. I then restored my model memories and everything worked and seems fine! ‘Still apprehensive, but I will have to do a good range check, vibration check, etc. before I try flying it again!

I guess those firmware updates should be paid more attention!

I also like Eraldo's advice about checking the Failsafe Settings on ALL the models in memory. I have been guilty of setting them up, and then never checking them annually during the C of A's that I do on my planes in the spring! Great advice from Eraldo, and to quote his reply to me:

".....and I recommend you do a failsafe check to ensure things go to where you want them".

"I hadn’t done a failsafe check on this radio for a long time. Certainly going to do that test on all my planes when I do the range check for each model before the first flight of the day. Easy to do: I’ll switch the Tx off first when I get back to the plane".

Too bad about the ugly stick Eraldo...!

IS ANYONE AWARE IF FIRMWARE UPDATES CAN BE DONE TO RECEIVERS??
