We are starting this discussion forum in order to post information, links, questions, and various other discussions on the recently announced License Requirements for Model Aviation, Drones, etc. Please no Politics and similar negativity, as I will hide or delete such posts!

We need to look at these changes as an opportunity to figure out what we need to do in order to get the exam written, and your models registered. Let's just concentrate our focus on that... and get everyone certified. If you write and fail - don't fret, you can re-write after 24 hours, and as many times as needed to pass!
We are fortunate to have some Highly Experienced Members with Aviation Backgrounds in this club, as well as a strong and active participating executive. So we will be leaning on them for direction and using their expertise to coordinate an easier transition to this entire endeavor.
Right now - All MAAC members flying Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) outdoors must now have a minimum of a Basic Pilot certificate and comply with all Canadian Aviation Regulations, including Part IX — Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems regulations. You will not be able to fly your models at the field without this license on your person.
The basic exam appears quite doable… as 95% of the club’s activities fall within the Basic Operations Pilot Certificate.
